HR Director - Germany

This is an excellent opportunity for an HR Professional with experience in Germany to take the next step in their media sector career.

You’ll be joining a global leader in the filmed entertainment sector at an exciting time – when the company is both transforming and expanding.


Our client is a global leader in the film & TV business with substantial production and distribution interests. 
The company is highly successful particularly in Germany where it employs ~100 people between Berlin and Munich, with plans to expand the business particularly on the production side.
Working with the Head of Germany and the global head of HR, you will ensure that all people-related matters within the company are handled in an efficient, professional, and sympathetic manner.
Specific responsibilities will include:
  • Contributing to the planning and deployment of specific HR projects in collaboration with the global HR Team (e.g., employer branding, compensation policies, etc.)
  • Support the implementation of various international HR projects in Germany including an HR IT System, intranet, training courses, and best practices
  • Attend Senior Management Team meetings;  ensure company strategy cascades through HR and ensure all communication cascades down to teams and across businesses in Germany
  • Provide guidance and input to head office and the country head on organisational design and and re-structure
  • Oversee the HR Coordinator to ensure all paperwork and data are accurately captured and compliant in accordance with legal requirements
  • Oversee the Annual Appraisal performance review process
  • Ensure all recruitment is dealt with in an efficient and timely manner, and is ultimately successful
  • Champion the Diversity & Inclusion strategy across the territory
  • Manage the annual Training budget
  • Work and build relationship with the workers’ council
  • Oversee, manage and hold any disciplinary, grievance or redundancy meetings as required in a quick, efficient manner.

The role is based in Berlin with regular travel to Munich - and other European countries as needed.

With some years’ experience on a German HR Team ideally within the international media sector, you must be ready to step up to this important but busy (and relatively hands-on) role.
You will have encountered all the aspects of HR described above, and be able to confidently and successfully deal with them while at the same time earning the respect and confidence of your colleagues at all levels.
You will need German language skills to native level, plus fluent English – and ideally French also.
Relevant vocational qualifications will be regarded very positively.
Remuneration will be competitive & attractive, and dependent upon experience.
